The first-ever JoinTheRun 10K Weekend has officially come to an end, and what a weekend it was.
Runners from across the UK came together to take on the challenge, completing an incredible 1,388.08 kilometres over the course of the weekend. Whether participants were aiming for a personal best, stepping up from a 5K, or simply looking for extra motivation to get out and run, every mile contributed to something much bigger than an individual achievement.
What started as a simple idea to bring the running community together quickly became a fantastic weekend of support, encouragement, and achievement.
More Than Just a 10K
One of the things participants enjoyed most was the flexibility of the event.
Unlike a traditional race, runners were free to complete their 10K wherever and whenever they wanted throughout the weekend. Whether running on local roads, favourite trails, with friends, or completely solo, everyone could take part in a way that suited them.
For many runners, the event provided the motivation they needed to get out the door and commit to a goal.
Several participants told us the challenge helped them stay accountable, build confidence, and even complete distances they hadn’t attempted before.
A Community That Supports Each Other
The biggest success of the weekend wasn’t just the kilometres completed, it was the community spirit that came with it.
Throughout the event, runners shared photos, progress updates, race-day stories, and words of encouragement across social media. Seeing hundreds of runners supporting one another created exactly the kind of atmosphere JoinTheRun was designed to foster.
One participant said:
“Really good fun knowing there’s people like me that run solo and people can communicate with each other for motivation.”
Another runner shared:
“Entering this race made sure I got out and ran a decent distance. Having a medal gave you something to aim for. Also knowing that there were others taking part and seeing all their success on social media.”
Perhaps the feedback that best summed up the weekend came from one participant who said:
“I really loved this event. The support from everyone at Team JoinTheRun has made this such an inclusive and supportive event for every single person who took part regardless of ability and made every single run feel like a huge achievement.”
Supporting The 125 Challenge
As well as bringing runners together, the event also helped raise money for a great cause.
Thanks to everyone who entered and supported the event, more than £200 was raised for The 125 Challenge, proving once again the positive impact that the running community can have when it comes together behind a shared goal.
The Finisher Medal
Every participant who completed the challenge earned an official JoinTheRun 10K Weekend finisher medal.
The feedback on the medal and runner pack, which includes goodies from Protein Rebel, was overwhelmingly positive, with many runners saying it provided extra motivation throughout the challenge and served as a lasting reminder of their achievement.
More importantly, the medal represents being part of the very first JoinTheRun 10K Weekend and helping to establish what we hope will become a regular fixture in the JoinTheRun calendar.

Looking Ahead
One of the most encouraging pieces of feedback we received was that participants would happily take part in another JoinTheRun event.
We’ve also received plenty of fantastic suggestions that will help shape future events, from additional race distances and enhanced leaderboards to more opportunities for runners to connect and share their journeys.
For a first event, we’re incredibly proud of what was achieved.
A huge thank you to every runner who signed up, every supporter who cheered participants on, and our event partners, Protein Rebel and Sad Miles Club, for helping make the weekend possible.
Together, you covered 1,388.08 kilometres, raised money for charity, and helped create an event that perfectly captured what JoinTheRun is all about: community, motivation, and enjoying the journey together.
This was our first JoinTheRun 10K Weekend, and we can’t wait to do it again.
