How JoinTheRun Is Funded

JoinTheRun exists to make running more connected, visible and accessible — especially at a grassroots and community level.

To keep the platform free for runners and independent, we generate income in a small number of transparent ways.

What will always be free

  • Searching and discovering races
  • Finding run clubs and communities
  • Reading runner stories and guides
  • Being featured as a runner or club

No runner pays to be included.

Event listings & organiser support

Basic event listings on JoinTheRun are free and always will be.

Organisers can optionally pay for added promotion, such as:

  • Featured event placements
  • Homepage visibility
  • Social media features
  • Newsletter inclusion

Paid promotion never replaces organic visibility and smaller events are not hidden or deprioritised.

Partnerships & recommendations

JoinTheRun works with a small number of partners whose products or services support runners.

These may appear within:

  • Training guides
  • Kit recommendations
  • Featured content
  • Discount codes for the community

All partnerships are chosen for usefulness, not volume, and are clearly disclosed.

Merchandise

JoinTheRun merchandise exists to support the platform and the wider running community.

Profits are reinvested into:

  • Platform costs
  • Content creation
  • Supporting events and clubs
  • Improving free tools and resources

Community support

Some runners choose to support JoinTheRun directly.

Any optional support will never create paywalls, exclusive access or tiers of importance.

What JoinTheRun will not do

To protect the community, JoinTheRun will not:

  • Sell runner data
  • Flood the site with advertising
  • Promote products we don’t believe in
  • Hide paid partnerships
  • Charge runners to be featured

Why this matters

Running thrives when it’s open, accessible and community-led.

JoinTheRun is built to support that — not to exploit it.
