The return of one of LA’s most iconic trail races is officially on. After a year away due to the Los Angeles wildfires, the Valley Crest Trails returns for 2026 with a summer edition that promises tough climbs, exposed trails, and huge ridgeline views across Southern California.

Hosted by Anytime Runners and Race Director Sheny Espino, the event has been part of the local trail scene since 2002 and is known by many as “The Friendliest Race in L.A.”.

About the Event

Set along the historic Dirt Mulholland fire road in the Santa Monica Mountains, Valley Crest Trails delivers a classic Southern California trail running experience. Expect rolling terrain, steady climbs, fast descents, and fully exposed trails with little to no shade throughout the course.

Runners will pass scenic viewpoints including the famous Nike Missile Site overlook, with panoramic views stretching across the San Fernando Valley, surrounding canyons, and toward the Pacific Ocean.

With the race taking place in mid-July, heat management will be a major factor. Organisers recommend runners arrive prepared with hydration, electrolytes, and a smart pacing strategy for the hot and dry conditions.
