Mid Wales 200

The Mid Wales 200 is an extreme, long-distance ultramarathon covering 200 miles (approx 322 km) across rugged Welsh terrain, organised as part of the Wild Horse 200 series. This multi-day, non-stop trail challenge pushes athletes to their limits, combining remote trails, hills and historic routes such as Offa’s Dyke and Glyndŵr’s Way on a spectacular circuit through the heart of Wales. It’s designed for experienced ultra-runners who want to test their endurance over a continuous, self-managed effort.

Race Description

The Mid Wales 200 is a non-stop, ultra-endurance event where competitors must complete the full 200 mile course within 120 hours (5 days) from the official start. The circular route ventures through the wild landscapes of Mid Wales, encompassing trail paths, forestry tracks and valley terrain with significant climbing, showcasing dramatic scenery and historic long-distance paths as participants make their way back to the start/finish in Machynlleth.

Additional Information

  • Competitors must reach the 100 mile mark before 55 hours into the race to continue.

  • The challenge combines trail (approximately 80 %) and road (approximately 20 %) surfaces and requires strong navigation and self-sufficiency skills.

  • Significant endurance experience is recommended given the distance, elevation and continuous time on course.
