The Taunton Half Marathon & Kids Kilometre Fun Run marks the 40th edition of this much-loved Somerset road race. Organised by Active South West Ltd, the event offers a flat, scenic half marathon through the heart of Taunton, followed by a fun mini run for kids. With a new town-centre start and finish, closed roads, and a festival atmosphere, it’s built to appeal to runners of all abilities and families alike.

• Date & Time – Sunday, 28 February 2027 — Half Marathon starts at 10:00 AM; Kids Kilometre begins at 10:15 AM

• Location – Taunton Town Centre, Somerset — both the Half Marathon and Kids Fun Run use the same start/finish lines on North Street, finishing in view of the County Market House landmark. 

• Event Types – Road Half Marathon (13.1 miles / ~21.1 km) plus a 1 km fun run for children (Kids Kilometre)

• Organiser – Active South West Ltd, supported by the local running community and volunteers.

Race Description

Runners will experience a well-supported road course through Taunton, beginning in the town centre and finishing with a town-centre flourish. The town centre is pedestrianised/closed for the event to ensure safety. The Kids Kilometre uses the same finishing stretch to give youngsters the excitement of the main race’s atmosphere. Spectators line the streets, especially as runners head to the finish on North Street in front of the Market House.

Additional Information

• Cut-off Time for Half Marathon: 4 hours (finish by ~14:00)

• Minimum Age: Participants must be at least 17 years old for the Half Marathon. Kids Kilometre is open to younger runners (age bracket approx 8-17)

• Road Closures & Safety: Roads in town centre closed to traffic; start/finish in town centre for maximum spectator visibility
